50 Years of Woolbridge - Classic Car Run??????

As many of you know, in 2010 Woolbridge will be 50 years young and ideas to celebrate this are being considered. One such idea has come to mind following the run Dick and I made on the Norwich Union MSA Classic in 2008; why not have a Woolbridge classic car run as part of our 50th birthday celebrations.

To help decide on whether to take this forward to the club board we need to gauge if this would be a good idea or not.

So what could the parameters of such an event be:
• Non competitive event.
• A single day event based in and around Dorset, possibly including a run up Wiscombe hillclimb (subject to Wiscombe Ltd agreement);
• A scenic driving route of some 100 miles or so;
• A very simple easy to follow road book;
• Open to all cars (and motorcycles?) or of any age?
• Open to both Woolbridge and non Woolbridge members?
• Finishers medal or similar;
• Any ideas for the finish?

What we would like, is for anyone interested or who has any comments to contact the names below so that we could gauge interest before the end of May 2009. Following which it will be taken to the club board to be discussed.

Just to say I have had two emails to date, anyone else interested?

I am hoping to include a drive of both Wiscombe and Gurston Down in the route.

Cheers,

Tony.

Does anyone have any feelings about the route being 100 miles for the event?

Cheers,

Tony.

A 100 mile tour including a drive up one or more hills sounds a great idea to me.
As a new member it wiould be a great way to meet lots of new people.

Many thanks for the reply. A plan is coming together and which will hopefully take in two hillcimbs, plus some other local historic roads in the area used in the past for motorsport events. All roads used will be fully tarmaced.

Cheers,

Tony.
