I need to remove the crank pulley from my GTti. I've got the bolt out, but the pulley won't come off no matter how hard I pull or how much WD40 I spray around it.

Someone suggested heating it up with a blow torch, but I've been warned that this could damage the crank oil seal (which I don't want to replace at the moment if I can help it). I've got a 3 legged puller, but it's too big to fit in the limited space between the pulley and inner wing (about 3"). I could cut away the inner wing, but it seems a bit drastic. Can you get pullers that will fit a 15cm (ish) diameter pulley but also fit inside a 3" gap?

Any other suggestions? (I'd rather not have to remove the engine to do it!).

A way of solving your problem is either to make a special puller for you, or to modify an existing puller by cutting one down and welding a couple of arms on if necessary. Either way if you want some help just ask.
Cheers, Tony. Very Happy
