I notice from the Gurston Down web-site that they are introducing a new class for 2008.

A new class is to be trialled at Gurston in 2008, though it will not as yet be a Gurston Championship class. Designated as 'Roadgoing Production Cars, any capacity' the class will be for vehicles complying with the 2008 MSA Year Book Section I.70-81 (per the new section designations in that publication) and tyres to C(e) List 1B will also be permitted.


I haven't had a book blue for a few years, so can someone please give a quick resume of the regs. I'm assuming you can't do much, as it's Roadgoing Production.
Maybe fit a cage, change drivers seat, exhaust ??

Regulations for Road-Going Production Cars and
Road-Going Specialist Production Cars
70. Cars must compete in an event in a road legal
condition.
Description
Road-Going Production Saloons and Sports Cars
Cars produced in quantities of not
less than 1000 per annum.
Road-Going Specialist Cars with a minimum annual
Production Cars production of 20 chassis
which do not qualify as
Road-Going Production Cars.
Chassis
71. Vehicles must have the manufacturers’ original
chassis structure and specification of construction,
dimensions and material. Roll cages must not accept or
assist any direct suspension loads.
Body (including aerodynamics)
72. The silhouette of the vehicle must remain unaltered
in construction, dimension and material. The silhouette
will be taken in the condition in which the car competes
(convertible closed cars competing with the hood or
top not erected must have the silhouette determined in
that condition).
73. Any engine bonnet/covers and luggage/boot
covers can be replaced with an alternative material.
74. Laminated windscreens are Permitted, but all other
glass may not be replaced by other materials.
75. Wheel arch extensions, bonnet louvres and
aerodynamic devices are Permitted, provided the
silhouette continues to comply with 72 above.
76. Any interior trim must remain fitted (except floor
carpets/mats). All working equipment fitted as standard
(heater, window mechanisms, sunroof, door handles
etc) must remain operable at all times.
Engines
77. For Road-Going Production Cars, the cylinder block
and cylinder head must remain in the original position
and be of the original type and material. Induction is
free (forced induction equivalency applies as in 49), as
are exhaust systems, but must remain in the same
capacity class as the original car or the manufacturer’s
specified option for the model and engine.
78. For Road-Going Specialist Production Cars, the
cylinder block and head must be of a make and type
produced in at least 5,000 identical units originally
available through the normal commercial channels of a

Wheels and tyres
79. Wheels are free. Tyres are to C(e) List 1A.
Suspension
80. The suspension configuration must remain
standard.
Transmission
81. For Road-Going Production Cars:
• The gearbox and differential casing must be of the
original type and material and remain in their original
position
• The method of gear selection must remain
standard (sequential selection is allowed only where
fitted as standard).


The permitted tyres would seem to conflict, or is it the BARC(SW) regs state 1B?
