Does it annoy hillclimb marshals if drivers dont acknowledge them at the end of the day. It certainly does me- no marshals no event!!!!! _________________ Fix it dont chuck it |

Hi Shortcar,
I think it would annoy most drivers, let alone the marshalls, if they thought some fellow competitors were not showing their appreciation to those that make the day actually happen. Thanks guy's

I asked a driver why he didn't acknowledge the marshalls at the end of the event at Wiscombe and he said simply that it was a recent thing and "never used to happen". I can't comment on that but I recently started by marshalling (to learn the ropes) and now I'm a competitor and I strongly believe in it. In reality, it is just plain good old fashioned British manners. I see it as another very pleasant example of the wonderful, clubby and friendly atmosphere that exists in Hill Climbing
It doesn't take much to show your appreciation to people who have given up their time freely so that we can have fun. |

I don't know which driver that is, but I've been competing for 10 years and an appreciative wave to the marshals has always happened in my time. I know from painful experience (Wiscombe, May 2005) what a great job marshal's do. Even as a spectator, for many years before competing, it happened .
Long may it continue _________________ ......along came a spider!! |

i have marshalled with woolbridge on Wis Corner in april and last saturday with torbay, and find it is usually the happy people are the ones who wave! smile=wave!
however one guy (no name mentioned) whilst driving his car shouts out "thanks for marshalling"
appreciation is always good |

I always try and give a "Thank you" wave if it doesn't compromise car control on the return run.
And for those times I don't/didn't manage to wave,
THANK YOU VERY MUCH to all marshals |
