Hi Tony,

Having not held a comp licence for a couple of years, so not getting MSA news, I see that CC maybe required from next year.
I'm looking from the Hillclimb/Sprint discipline here.

Any chance you give give the low down on what is happening, what a competitor will have to comply with.

I am building a Bike Engined Caterham 7, so would probably run in either modified production/kit car class or if i don't fit a reverse, the sport libra class.

I'm confused and on a tight budget so don't want to fork out on anything I don't require.

Cheers,
Simon.

Simon,

I think you will probably end up in Sports Leftovers anyway as I don't think that Caterham make a version with a bike engine, and so it means it is an alteration from the manufacturers spec etc.

Regards

Martin

Martin,

Cheers for the reply Smile

Caterham did make a small number (around 20) of Honda Fireblade powered version (They were built by James Whiting).

If you wish to compete then the caterham Busa are now allowed in the up to 1400cc mod prod class (well done andy) so should be very competitive against the megabusa's.

Simon,

The MSA state that for production saloons and sports cars (and including modified production saloons and sports cars) manufactured after 31st Dec 1999 need a CAT to be fitted as from 1-Jan-2009.

For information, all road going cars manufactured after 1994 require a CAT to be fitted, for road use.

On what class your car would fit into depends on the events/championships that you enter their specific regulations and the exact build of your car. If you want to give me a ring one evening for a chat, please feel free to do so.

Cheers,

Tony.

They only made them with Honda Blackbird engine, and then only for a short period. So with a 'bird engine you'd escape Sports Leftover.
Although if you're going to compete at a certain southern hillclimb venue, it doesn't seem to matter which bike engine you'd use Confused
