I read recently that the MSA have made comment on the ASWMC regulations allowing list 1b tyres and are planning to compel competitors to use just 1a tyres. This would outlaw the use of Yoko 032 or 048 and Toyo R888 tyres, both of which are now widely used.

I will be providing the ASWMC my views on this but others who wish to continue to us these tyres need to make their opinions known to the ASWMC pretty soon as the change would take effect from 2009.

This must affect a large proportion of those competing in sprints and hillclimbs.

With the upsurge in track days, these tyres are readily available at reasonable prices so I cannot see why they should be outlawed.

Is there enough interest to start a petition or should we all just individually contact the MSA who can be reached on
